In/Outsider— Post-Exchange Programme Sharing

Artist Statement:
Last semester, three exchange students  from Fine Arts Department embarked on their learning journeys in Beijing, China and Leeds, U.K. respectively . This exhibition would present what they have learnt and thought during their exchange programmes  through a wide variety of artworks. As exchange students, their lives were oftentimes challenged by cultural and learning differences - while they seek to adapt to foreign cultures and education, they at the same time become more aware of the uniqueness of their own cultural roots. As suggested by the title ’In/Outsider’, this exhibition attempts to discuss these relevant cultural, identity and artistic issues through the concepts of ‘outsider’, insider’ as well as the ambiguity of these two terms.

裏外—三位交換生的『餘震』

展覽簡介：
展覽將通過不同形式的藝術作品展現出參展者三人交流期間及前後的所想所學。交流生身處異地，面對著自身文化與他者文化的差異，一方面渴望融入異地文化，一方面又意識到自己的獨特性，這展覽試圖以「裏」跟「外」以及兩者之間的含混性，呈現出於交流期間因自身身份及文化差異所帶來的各種思想震盪。
